Metal-organic framework (MOF)
A crystal built like scaffolding, full of tiny pores that can trap gases or water.
A metal-organic framework is a crystal made of metal atoms linked by carbon-based molecules, leaving pores a few nanometers wide. Some trap carbon dioxide; others pull water from dry air. Their inventors won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
