Nanotechnology
Engineering things at the scale of nanometers, where size and structure change how materials behave.
Nanotechnology means designing and making things whose important features are a few to a few hundred nanometers across. At that scale a material's color, strength, or the way it conducts electricity or reacts with other chemicals can depend on its size and shape, not only on what it is made of.
