Perovskite
A family of crystals that can turn sunlight into electricity, often stacked on silicon solar cells.
Perovskites are crystals with a particular structure that absorb sunlight very well and can be made as thin films. Stacked on top of an ordinary silicon cell, they catch light the silicon misses, so the pair turns more sunlight into electricity.
